ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

Markland subscribes to the Canadian mining industry practice of avoiding any negative environmental impact during the various stages of mining including exploration, development, construction and production.

The company has completed an independent environmental assessment of the Churchill Sands Project, including a baseline study. The results of this study have been submitted to the Newfoundland and Federal Government authorities in support of an application for an advanced exploration permit. This permit was awarded in late 2005.

The current evaluation studies are expected to continue to yield positive results.

Markland is arranging for an advanced environmental study in support of an application for a mining lease in late 2006.Additional information and specific environmental assessment studies are posted in the Reports section of this page.
